We live in a world of technology. We have transitioned from the "good old days" where industrialism was the wave of the future. Fortune 500 companies have now learned that advertising on television is no longer the way to go. But why?

How many of us really have time to sit down and watch our favorite series on TV when it originally airs? I know I don't. My favorite show to watch, admittedly, is Survivor. It airs here Wednesday nights at 7pm...right in the middle of my son's last feeding, bath time, and bed time. My husband and I generally watch Survivor Thursday night via DVR. One of the beauties of DVR, other than watching my favorite show at my convenience, is that we can fast-forward through all of the commercials.

Yep, that's right! I couldn't tell you which commercials are on there, because I never see them. All of these companies have realized that they are wasting their advertising budget. So they have decided to invest those funds elsewhere. And we are talking billions of dollars.

So, where is "elsewhere"? Online marketing. Specifically, online referral representatives.

They are investing the money they previously used in online marketing to pay people like you and I because they know that their products and services will be seen. By allowing the masses (or anyone who knows about these types of deals) a free or majorly discounted trial offer, they are getting a better chance of people liking their product and continuing on with their service after the trial period is over. It is worth it to them to have consumers try the product and cancel rather than waste a lot of money on advertising that most people won't see to begin with.
