How reliable are ultrasounds in predicting the gender of a baby? Can you please share your experiences regarding this?
Thank you so much

Hi,
It depends. There are times though, when they tell you a girl...a little turtle could be hiding underneath. My girlfriend had twins and was told she was having a boy and a girl and ended up having two boys. I think a lot depends on the person reading the US too. There was absolutely no question when I had my three US's...my boys weren't shy at all!!

Candy,
I've seen you post this in a few places now. You might want to talk with your doctor. It sounds like maybe you have concerns we're not reading in your posts.
Amnio is 100% accurate. Ultrasounds are not intended to tell the *** of a child. As has been posted, mistakes in gender have been made from ultrasound readings, no errors are made with amnio. Definately speak with your doctor.

I would speak with your doctor, my sister had 2 children -- had ultrasounds, and both times they were wrong. I have no idea on what the statistics would be, best to ask the pros. i.e. your doctor. :)

I had two ultrasounds and they were both accurate. It was a boy! and he is here! Jadon Isaiah was born three months ago. I would suggest you get a 3D ultrasound. It is an amazing experience, it's a lot more accurate, and you get to show it to your baby when he's older.

Technology has improved. My first son was born in 2000 and my second son in 2004. The doctor was correct determining their *** but when I compare the two ultrasounds, my second son's is much clearer. So, it may be easier to give an accurate US reading.

Candy,
How you doing? Did you speak with your doctor about the babys gender?

My Daughter hasn't been back to the Dr. yet she goes today and I told her to request another ultrasound. I will keep you all updated. And thank you all for your responses.

Candy,
And here I thought it was YOU expecting. Oops. Very red faced LOL
I had ultrasounds with three of the four and all of them were accurate.

It really depends on when you have them done. Mine were always correct, most of the time they won't tell you unless they know for sure. At least that's been my experience! ;)

My two girls were predicted as girls, and this one in utero "has definite boy parts," according to the specialist! He circled them and took a photo, although it doesn't look like anything to me! I do believe it is a boy though, since the baby is so active and strong. We'll see in about seven more weeks!
It was very obvious with my two boys LOL
