I am a work at home mom and I auction jewelleries for living; occasionally, make-up or beauty products.

The tip is to get your supplies at a good cost.
For example, if the retail price of a necklace is about $40 each, if you can get it for about $24~$28 each from your wholesaler, then it's a good-buy ($40 less 40% or 50% = $24). Ideally is to keep the cost of your products for about 40% to 50% less than your retail pricing.

That is a great tip. :)

If you're auctioning on eBay for example, you also need to factor in listing fees, final value fees, and the cost of postage (if you cover some of the shipping cost or offer free shipping). And then on top of that, is the fee to receive Paypal funds.
